With forced discharge prohibition mode function
Single Cell Protection IC for Lithium Ion/Lithium Polymer Secondary Battery
< MM3645xxxVRE >
Announced on March 22, 2013
Overview
Integrated (fixed size) battery packs have become mainstream in recent years to meet the thin design and high capacity batteries requirements of smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. This has led to issues resulting in flat batteries due to dark current, even when the power is turned OFF, when shipped from the factory.
< MM3645xxxVRE > includes a function that prohibits forced discharge of batteries by receiving physical signals from external sources, which can minimize current consumption when batteries are stored. To overcome the increase in consumption current due to higher functionality of mobile devices, this IC employs external sensor resistance to detect overcurrent, which makes thermal protection of the battery pack easier compared to previous designs as it is less likely to be affected by changes in temperature or voltage.
