■Overview
When a capacitor is connected to the output of a conventional regulator, a rush current is generated as it charges during the output startup.
The main pain power supply unit, including the transistor that forms the pre-stage to the regulator, must therefore be capable of withstanding the rush current.
The startup of the <MM192x Series>, on the other hand, is softened by a capacitor connected to the soft start terminal, and the rush current can be suppressed.
The output capacitor can then be a 1 F ceramic capacitor, leading to space savings on the IC mounting as well as in the main power supply unit, and thus enabling cost reductions.
