High accuracy Overcharge protection
Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery (2~4 Direct) Secondary Protection IC
MM3284
Announced on October 4, 2006
MM3284
Overview
In recent years, more and more portable electric devices are implemented with lithium-ion rechargeable batteries because portable electric devices are getting smaller. Lithium-ion batteries require the protection function by the protection ICs, or by PTC thermistors, etc. in order to enhance the safety. The needs for the secondary protection ICs that provide multiple protections for lithium-ion batteries are increasing in order to further enhance the safety.
This product provides multiple protections against overcharge to which special safety is required. The number of outside parts is reduced compared to the conventional products because a delay timer is incorporated in this product. A small-sized package (SOT-26) is adopted to realize the small package area that is required by mobile equipment. Additionally, the reliability of the lithium battery pack is improved by the detecting voltage (4.35V±30mV) with high accuracy.
